The bicycle was introduced in the 19th century in Europe by German Inventor Karl von Drais. He is credited with developing the first bicycle. He introduced it to the people in Paris in 1818. It is supposed to originate from the human-powered vehicle called Draisines. Drais invented a walking machine that would help him get around the royal gardens faster. It was known by many names, including the “velocipede,” “dandy horse,” “hobby-horse,” “draisine” and “running machine. It had no pedals and its frame was a wooden beam. How to Locate and Tighten Loose Bicycle Spokes THINGS YOU’LL NEED A spoke wrench Purchase a spoke wrench. They can be found at any bicycle repair shop, or discount stores like Target or Kmart. While it is possible to tighten the spokes with an adjustable wrench or pliers, it is not recommended. Most spoke wrenches work for all of the popular spoke sizes. Identify loose spokes by squeezing two of the spokes together at a time. There should not be more than 1/4″ of play on any single spoke.
